Step three: Moving Day!

  • Your movers will arrive early, ready to work! We will record the totally weight of your move and keep a record for you.
  • From start to finish, your movers will log every item they move on an inventory sheet.

The Military and Air Force Bases

Here are a few facts about some of the facilities local to the Seattle area:

Joint Base Lewis-McChord: The largest military installation in the Pacific Northwest. It spans over 400,000 acres and is home to over 40,000 service members. It’s very close to the Cascade Mountains, a popular location for hikes and skiing.

Naval Base Kitsap: This is the third-largest US Navy installation in the country. It’s almost like a small city, featuring amenities like child care and even a skate park. Over 40,000 service members and civilians call it home.

Naval Station Everett: Around 6,000 sailors and civil servants are assigned to this location. It is considered one of the most environmentally friendly stations, receiving the Navy Pollution Prevention Award.

FAQ

There are four main factors that decide the cost of your move, or really, how much you can be reimbursed by the government for your relocation:

  • Rank
  • Weight of your household goods
  • Distance
  • Family size

Some additional costs that movers may not always consider include first-month security deposits and utility connection fees.

Make sure you’ve saved all of the receipts, weight tickets and your DD Form 1351-2, as you will need to turn these records into the Defense Personal Property System or your branch’s specified portal to begin the reimbursement process.

If you have any questions, be sure to reach out to your local transportation office. They will be the best equipped to answer specific questions about the moving process and reimbursement.

Lincoln Moving & Storage has extensive experience handling PCS moves for military families. These moves often involve strict regulations, deadlines, certified weight tickets, and the handling of military-specific paperwork.

“We complete hundreds of military moves every year. Our team understands the unique challenges service members face, and we’ve refined our processes to address every detail of PCS moves,” explains Senior Vice President Danny DiJulio. With over 100 years of experience, our team is familiar with the specific procedures and deadlines associated with PCS relocations.

We will review your Order of Service and carefully calculate the weight of your items. We will work with you to make sure your belongings stay within the allotted weight, helping you avoid extra costs while still meeting your needs.

We understand that PCS timelines can be fluid. We can adjust our services to meet any changes in your schedule. Whether you need to move earlier or later than originally planned, we will do our best to accommodate your new timeline.

“Having partnered with military families for over a century, we’ve built our business model around flexibility. We know that orders change, and we pride ourselves on adapting quickly to serve our service members,” says Owner and President Chris DiJulio.

Lincoln Moving & Storage offers secure and convenient storage options for military families who need a place to store their belongings between duty stations. Moving between duty stations often requires temporary storage, especially if there’s a gap between moving out of one base and into the next. Our 30,000-sq.-ft., 24/7-monitored Tacoma storage facility ensures that your items will be safe and protected.

You do not need to tip your moving team, but if you do it is appreciated. We pay our movers for the time they spend on your job.

If you would like to show your movers your appreciation for a job well done, you could leave a review and mention the names of the movers who made your experience great.
