Did a great job unpacking all our stuff! Even with a large miscommunication with other companies, they stayed and did what they had to do. Thank you guys!

As someone who has never used a moving company before I wasn’t sure what to expect but everything went so smoothly. The crew was so nice, handled everything with care and packed everything properly for our international move.

Even though it’s just a local move, having a timeline (e.g., 6–8 weeks out) and a moving plan helps keep tasks organized — from packing to utility transfers — and reduces last-minute stress.

FAQ

Our full service moves can range in cost between $150-$180 an hour for two men and a truck.

We offer a wide range of services to help with different types of moves.

  • Packing and unpacking
  • Furniture assembly and disassembly
  • Home good transportation
  • Local, long distance and international moves
  • Commercial and office moves

Yes! Our Tacoma location features a 30,000 sq. ft. climate-controlled storage warehouse. All of our facilities are pest-controlled, flood-protected, and under 24/7 surveillance—and we also have locations in Kent and Everett.

We offer three kinds of coverage for your move.

Released Value Coverage: Basic protection that comes with every move. Your mover is responsible for covering you for 60 cents per pound per article

Full Value Protection: Requires an extra fee. If something is lost or damaged, the company will repair, replace, or reimburse you for the item’s current market value.

Items of Extraordinary Value Declaration: If you have items worth $100 or more per pound, you need to tell the movers before the move. They’ll give you a special form to list these valuable items.

The best times to move are during the winter and spring when moving company schedules are at their lowest. The peak time for moving is the summer and it can be much more difficult to schedule movers during this time.

Booking 4-6 weeks in advance is generally recommended for local moves.

Tipping your moving team isn’t required, but it’s always appreciated. Our movers are paid for the time they spend on your job.

If you’re looking for another way to say thanks, leaving a review and mentioning the team members who made your move a great experience means a lot to us.

Tony Bouie, General Manager of our Tacoma location offers the following advice on sniffing out moving scams.

    • When searching online for moving companies, be careful to avoid “moving brokers.” These companies at face-value look to be normal moving companies, but they actually sell moving jobs to real moving companies.
    • If a website or mover claims they can give you an exact price without seeing your property either in person or virtually, consider it a big red flag.
    • And this is a big one: Avoid moving companies that don’t have their license information clearly visible somewhere on their website or can’t give it to you over the phone.

“I met a woman from Proctor who was just trying to move closer to her job,” Bouie adds. “She didn’t realize she was moving with an unlicensed mover until she opened some boxes at her new home and found her collection of wine glasses totally shattered and her “movers” long gone.”

Unlicensed movers aren’t bound by the law, so if your property is broken or stolen you will often have no legal recourse.

The cheapest day of the week to hire movers is any day other people aren’t moving as much. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are usually the best days as most people try to move over the weekend. Generally, the earlier in the week you move the fewer other people will be moving.

This same line of thinking applies for the best month or time of the year to move as well. Summer is the most popular season to move so it’s much harder to schedule a job. Scheduling a move during the winter or fall will almost always be much easier.

We believe Lincoln Moving and Storage is the best moving company in Tacoma for three simple reasons:

  • Unmatched experience: Founded in 1914, we have been in operation for longer than many other moving companies in the area combined.
  • Outstanding track record: We have a 4.9 rating on Google and have worked with customers as big as Facebook, Amazon, and the Girl Scouts of America. No matter what job you have, our team can handle it.
  • Affordability: Our pricing is clear and openly available for customers to see. We also have a number of discounts available like free furniture disassembly and reassembly, military discounts, and discounts for older adults.
