Paul, Nehemiah, Moe, handled the pack out for my PCS from Washington. They came in and carefully packed my whole apartment out. They were efficient and got things packed and loaded quickly. They also worked with me to help resolve some issues getting some large furniture out of my apartment. Highly... recommend. They were nothing but professional.read more

The cost of your long-distance move is based in part on the amount of weight you’re moving. One of the easiest ways to make your move more affordable is by donating items you don't need.

Lincoln Moving Process

Whether you’re moving into Seattle from out of state or relocating to a place like New York or Los Angeles, there’s no more experienced team to trust with your job. Our top-rated licensed and insured moving team have been helping movers like you since 1914!

We complete your move in three simple steps:

Step one: Get a detailed estimate – Call our offices at (800) 426-4780 to start the estimate process! Schedule a visit from a move estimator today.

Step two: Receive an Order of Service – Your order of service maps out all of the services you have selected for your move and the costs associated with them.

Step three: Moving Day!

  • Your professional movers will arrive early and be ready to work! If you choose packing services, careful packing and loading are the first things your movers will work on.
  • From start to finish, your movers will log every item they move on an inventory called a “bill of lading.”
  • Once your move is complete, your mover will give you the bill of lading along with your order of service, marking your move as complete.

Welcome to Life in Seattle

Moving into Seattle from out of state? There’s a lot you have to look forward to when you arrive! Here’s a bit of information on what has people so excited to join our thriving community.

How’s the housing market?: According to Redfin, in December of 2025, Seattle home prices were down 6.5% compared to last year. While the cost of living in Seattle is high, the lowest cost neighborhoods to live in include Beacon Hill, Blue Ridge, Magnolia, and Queen Anne.

What’s there to do?: Check out the incredible view from on top of the Space Needle, share an unforgettable moment with your loved ones on the Puget Sound Sunset Cruise, and go on a delicious food tour at the historic Pike Place Market.

How are logistics and the environment? Areas like Capitol Hill, Belltown and Pioneer Square are some of the most walkable neighborhoods in the city. Summers tend to be short in Seattle, and winter and rainy months last a little longer.

Long-Distance Mover FAQ

According to Yelp, long-distance moves tend to cost between $2,150 – $5,750.

We determine the cost of your move with these three main factors:

  • Level of service required (ex. packing, storage)
  • Total weight of your move
  • Time of year/How busy we are

The best times to move to save money are the winter and spring seasons. You can also save money on your move by getting rid of items you don’t want to take to your new home.

We provide detailed estimates based on a thorough survey of your belongings, ensuring you know exactly what to expect before your move begins.

You do not need to tip your moving team, but if you do, it is appreciated. We pay our movers for the time they spend on your job.

If you would like to do something to show your movers your appreciation for a job well done, you could instead leave a review and mention the names of the movers who made your job a great experience.

Depending on the time of year and the amount of property you need moved, your long-distance move can take as few as two business days or as many as 20.

Before your move begins, we will provide you with a detailed estimate that will include how long we believe your job will take to complete.

Lincoln is not a member of a van line, which means we take your items on our truck all the way to your final destination rather than handing your items off to another moving company along the way. This gives you peace of mind that your property is always being handled with care by the people you entrusted with your move.

Yes, you may need to purchase a parking permit on behalf of your moving company before your moving day arrives.

This is something that our customer support team will discuss with you well in advance of your moving day. Preparing for your moving day may involve:

  • Reserving parking spots
  • Reserving elevators in apartment buildings

Our customer support specialists are happy to help you with everything related to preparing for your moving day and may be able to handle some of these tasks on your behalf.

Yes, and it is recommended to always move with licensed and insured moving companies. Companies that are not licensed are known as “rogue movers,” and if any of your items are lost or stolen during your move, you may not have any way of getting your property, or at least the value, back.

Make your move stress-free by finding out if your moving company is licensed by looking up their name on the FMCSA website. If a mover you are looking at doesn’t have a USDOT license number somewhere on their website, they may be a rogue mover.
