Lincoln Moving and Storage International Moving Process

You don’t need to navigate a change as big as moving internationally on your own. Here’s how we make your journey seamless.

Step One – Get a Quote & Move Coordinator: Call our office or complete our online form to get a quote. If you partner with us, you’ll be paired with a dedicated international moving specialist, your point of contact, who will guide you through every part of your move, from initial planning to final delivery.

Step Two – Receive an Order of Service: Once your moving timeline is confirmed, you’ll receive your order of service, which outlines all the services you have requested to complete your move, with costs for each service clearly explained.

Step Three – Moving Process Begins: We highly recommend using our packing services for international moves. If chosen, our packers arrive several days before your scheduled move date to professionally pack your belongings using top-grade boxes and packing supplies and to ship your goods.

Step Four – Move Completion: Once your property arrives in your destination country, our team will receive your goods and unpack them at your home. Your goods will be tracked on an inventory called a Bill of Lading. We make sure everything is accounted for before you sign off on your completed move.

Where are Everett Moving Customers Coming From and Going To When They Move Internationally?

Cost of living and inflation are among the top reasons why Everett residents are interested in moving out of the US, according to U.S. report. On the other hand, families from foreign countries are attracted to Washington because of the tech-driven economy and tax structure.

Top International Destinations:

  • Mexico: The top location for American expats due to the much lower cost of living and the ease with which American citizens can enter and exit the country. There are also many established expat communities in Mexico that make American families feel like they’re at home.
  • Canada: A particularly attractive destination for workers in the tech industry traveling between Vancouver and Seattle. This is a popular destination because of the shared language and many cultural similarities.

Where Immigrants Are Coming From and Why:

  • India: The majority of these customers are seeking jobs in Washington’s thriving tech sector. Many of them arrive on H-1B visas, specifically to work in software engineering or IT.
  • Philippines: Immigrants from this country are also seeking work, but this time in industries such as agriculture, healthcare, and construction.

International Moving FAQ

International relocations can cost as little as $2,000 or as much as $20,000, depending on the level of service you need.

Things that can change the cost of your move may include:

  • Total travel distance
  • Customs procedures for your destination country
  • Weight of your belongings
  • Volume of your belongings
  • Shipping method (air, sea, land)
  • Level of insurance coverage
  • Additional services like packing

The first step toward understanding the cost of your move is getting a quote. Call our Everett office today at (800) 426-4780 to contact one of our international moving experts.

Movers generally need:

  • A detailed inventory of all shipped items
  • Proof of ownership
  • A valid passport

Certain countries require additional documents, such as work visas, residence permits, or specific customs forms.

When you move with Lincoln Moving and Storage, a personal move coordinator will work with you to gather all of the paperwork you need and guide you through the specific rules and regulations for the country you are moving to.

Lincoln Moving & Storage has two main insurance options for international moves: Replacement Value and Valued Inventory.

Replacement Value: This coverage provides reimbursement at a rate of $8 per pound for items that are lost or damaged. However, any item worth $500 or more must be separately declared and assigned a specific value to qualify for full reimbursement if it is lost or damaged during the move.

Valued Inventory: You are required to list the value of every item being moved for it to be covered under the insurance plan. Items valued under $500, such as clothing and kitchenware, may be combined into a single group. With this coverage, you’ll receive reimbursement for the declared value of any individual item that is lost or damaged.

Depending on the mode of travel you select (ground, air, sea), your shipping and delivery time can change.

As an example, the following list gives standard ocean freight shipping times for common international destinations:

  • Asia: 6-10 weeks
  • Australia: 5-7 weeks
  • Caribbean: 6-8 weeks
  • Europe: 5-9 weeks
  • Mexico & Canada: 2-4 weeks
  • South America: 6-9 weeks

Factors like customs clearance, weather, port congestion, and local transportation can also affect delivery times.

Yes, you can track your shipment. When you move with Lincoln Moving and Storage, you are assigned a personal move coordinator whom you can contact for updates on the shipping and delivery of your goods.
